About Me
Approach to Therapy
I recognize that healthy relationships are fundamental for the health and well-being of individuals and families. I view relationship difficulties from a normative and non-pathological perspective. My preference is to utilize a strength-based, trauma informed, culturally informed systems approach when assisting my clients. I will also utilize strategic, CBT, ACT & mindfulness interventions with clients. I strive to create a respectful and trusting therapeutic relationship weaving together evidence-based approaches with clients’ pacing to create a successful treatment plan. My hope is that this approach will guide them to move around, over or through their personal or systems obstacles that are reducing their levels of success & happiness. My goal is to assist individuals and families with finding a suitable path beyond their obstacles to a more productive and joyful place.
My Experience & Qualifications
I am an Oregon licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience working with individual adults, families and children. I have worked in a variety of settings including mental health clinics, elementary and high schools, family court and juvenile court. While working with my clients, I have witnessed the courage and resilience displayed by numerous humans. My belief is that our happiness is based primarily on how effectively we navigate our relationships (family, friends, love, work, community). Life presents us with frequent obstacles to our happiness that we sometimes need assistance resolving.
